Happy New Year everyone!

At 2021, we had many guests stay here, and with their support, we were able to celebrate our first anniversary.

It has been a difficult time for us, but we will continue to make every effort to provide a comfortable stay for our many guests.

I would like to introduce you to the decorations we put up again this year.

This year again, we prepared the shimenawa, a typical New Year's decoration.

Do you know the meaning of "shimenawa"?

New Year's Day is a special day to welcome the "Toshigami-sama," or gods that bring good harvests and good health, into your home. And the shimenawa is a way of marking the place to welcome these gods!

Next, here is the Kagamimochi.The meaning of Kagamimochi is that it is the place where the god of the year resides, as explained earlier with the shimenawa.It is believed that the New Year's god will share his soul with us, along with the happiness and blessings of the new year. The symbol of that soul is the Kagamimochi.

In Japan, we will decorate like this in the new year. It's so much fun to think about the meaning, isn't it?

New Year's decorations brighten our feelings and the atmosphere of the place!

It was a good way to start the year.

And what a surprise!

A new staff member has also joined our team.

He is energetic, cheerful, and a smiling staff.

He is from Gifu Prefecture, Takayama City.

If you live nearby, come from the area, or are interested in the area, he can tell a good story!

He loves to talk very much.

I'm sure you'll see him in the future, so feel free to talk to him!

With the new staff, we hope to make the hostel even brighter and more energetic than last year.
