Anamori Inari Shrine "Lantern Festival"

Hello! This is plat hostel keikyu haneda home.

Thank you for visiting our blog as always.

Just a few days ago, the Tokyo Paralympics came to a successful conclusion.

I'm sure there were many of you who watched it on TV. Some of the people staying at our hostel volunteered for the Tokyo Paralympics, so I was able to talk to them about the Paralympics.

Now, everyone, what do you think of when you think of summer?

Yes, summer is all about festivals! I know, right?

At the Anamori Inari Shrine, about a 5 minute walk from our hostel

The annual "Lantern Festival" was held again this year!

We attended this year's festival as well as last year's, and this time we will report on the event.

Date and Time

August 27th (Friday) 18:00 - 21:00

Saturday, August 28, 18:00-21:00

The Kentousai festival is held every year in August at the Anamori Inari Shrine,

A lot of "paper lanterns" made by the local people are displayed.

Each paper lantern has various pictures or patterns.

The lights were turned on one by one from 6 pm,

By the time it gets dark, the shrine will be filled with beautiful lights.

It will be so instagrammable!

Now, here are a few pictures of my participation on the 28th!

This is the entrance to the Anamori Shrine.

The sun had already set and the lanterns looked beautiful against the night sky.

We found our hostel's chochin!

After lighting our own lanterns, we spent about half an hour with the staff of the shrine and our neighbors to light candles on all the lanterns.

Each lantern had a different design on it, and it was soothing to see the pictures illuminated by the warm lights of the lanterns.

This year, too, events such as the round dance and fair were cancelled or scaled down to prevent infectious diseases, but we were able to get a little taste of the festival atmosphere!

I hope that next year, the corona will be under control and the festival will be more lively.

So this time, continuing from last year, we reported on the "Lantern Festival" at the Anamori Inari Shrine near our hostel.

See you on the next blog!
