Today, I'd like to introduce "Gyoza no Yukimatsu Arakawa branch".

If you are living in Japan, I'm sure you've heard of "Gyoza no Yukimatsu" at least once on TV. It is a very popular frozen dumpling shop with Unattended sales.

With the coronavirus causing, we are spending more time at home. The fact that you can buy gyoza without seeing anyone and the ease of making it at home by just baking the frozen gyoza has made it a hit!

We actually went to buy them, so today we'll introduce them in detail!

The closest JR stations to Gyoza no Yukimatsu Arakawa branch are Tabata Station and Oku Station, but if you take the Toden Arakawa Line which departs from Minowa-bashi Station near our hostel, you can get off at Odai station and walk there in five minutes!

Gyoza no Yukimatsu Arakawa Branch

A short walk from Odai, you will see a big sign.

You can clearly see the inside through the glass window, but no one is there. It really seems like an unmanned shop. I'm excited because I've never been to a shop like this before...!

There is a large freezer inside, packed full of gyoza. Each box of frozen gyoza contains 36 pieces and costs 1,000 yen, which is the best value for money!

It's an unattended store, so of course you have to pay by yourself! There is a box to put money in. Of course you can't get change so don't forget to bring 1000 YEN note!

The frozen dumplings looked like this! We imagined the bagged dumplings sold in commercial supermarkets, but they were more well packaged than that! There was also a to-go bag for each person, and up to two free ice packs, so no worries about time heading home!

Now let's go back to the hostel and start cook!

Following the "How to make delicious gyoza" posted inside the shop as a guide, we baked the gyoza together with our guests! And it's done!

The inside of the gyoza was stuffed with vegetable based filling, and the skin was crispy but also chewy with a perfect texture! The quantity of 36 pieces was just enough for the three of us to have a full meal.

That was tasty, so we will definitely try it again! The unattended sales style was also very interesting, so if you visit our hostel, you should definitely give it a try!
