plat hostel keikyu asakusa station ~stay home's kitchen 4~
Hey guys! This is plat hostel keikyu asakusa station.
It's been raining a lot recently, and high humidity is making us feel gloomy...
Even in this rainy season, we want you to be as cheerful and energetic as possible at our hostel, so we're always thinking about something that we can do while you're here!
So, we'd like to introduce you to the fourth in our favorite series of "stay hostel kitchen" during the stay home period!
Right now, it's still too difficult to travel abroad and impossible to visit there, so we tried to cook 'Empanada', Argentina local food!
Empanada seems like a mix of dumpling and meat pie, and the Argentina way is eat it with pizza with friends and family on party! It sounds fun just to imagine, doesn't it?
Here are the ingredients we used this time. In Argentina, you can buy empanada dough at the supermarket, but we tried to do everything by hand!
It's because it's a lot of fun to do it together!
☆Ingredients (for 25 pcs.)
*Empanada dough (Tapa)
Flour --------------------------- 200g
Water -------------------------- 300ml
Salt ----------------------------- 3 tsp
Egg ----------------------------- 2
Butter -------------------------- 100g
*filling (Relleno)
Minced meat ----------------- 400g
Onion -------------------------- 3
Potato ------------------------- 4
Oil・Salt & Pepper -------- as needed
Cheese, spinach ----------- for toppings
First, make the filling and let it cool. There is no particular order, but we first chopped the onions and fried them until they get tender. After that, add the thin chopped potatoes, minced meat, and salt and pepper in that order, and when it's cooked well, it's done!
All you have to do is fry all the ingredients, so it's surprisingly easy!
We microwaved spinach for 3 mins.
Then, we moved to making dough!
It also just needs to mix all the ingredients, rolling it out thin, and cutting it into a round shape.
All that's left is to wrap it!
He is the staff known as "empanada artisans"!
The Argentinean staff looked very happy to be able to recreate the authentic shape and taste of the food at our hostel!
We put a lot of butter in the dough, so the taste was good and the potatoes were fluffy and delicious. If you eat three, you will be full! lol It's perfect for parties!
We don't have many opportunities to travel abroad or interact with guests from other countries, but we thought it would be nice if we could experience the feeling of traveling abroad while in Asakusa, so we made empanadas and ate them with guests, this is a plat hostel asakusa station style!
We are still in a difficult situation, but comments like "Thank you", "Delicious! and "smiles" from our guests make us very happy, and we feel like we can do our best again.
We keep taking measures to prevent the spread of infection, follow the rules, and make as many good memories as possible by interacting with staff and other guests.
We hope bustling daily life will return in the near future.
See you next time!
