Tori-no-ichi food stalls

There is one more left of this year, so I'd be happy if anyone could visit that festival after checking our blog.

Since the second Tori-no-ichi(Ni-no-tori) was on the weekend, so many people were enjoying the festival. It was a difficult year to hold the event on the same scale as before, but many people enjoyed it with care about infectious disease countermeasures and I felt Japanese are really caring about other people.

One of the big things about festivals in Japan, there are many street foods! I always wonder what kind of food stalls there are and what I should eat.

Recently, I feel that there are more international food stalls than before. In Tori-no-ichi this time, there were also Xiànbǐng from China and Doner Kebab from Turkey.

Xiànbǐng is like a chinese savory pancake(pie) with a diameter of about 15 cm. It is made by meat and vegetable bean paste in a dough made of wheat flour, stretching it flat, and cooking it in oil!

There were no festivals during this summer, so it was fun to just walk around and look at the food stalls this time.

Why are festival stalls attractive? I can't stop seeing them even though I don't feel hunger!

And rare stalls are open at this festival that are hard to find at other festivals. It's Kiri Sansho.Have you ever heard it before?

Kirisansho is a local confectionery whose main ingredients are sugar and sansho(Japanese pepper).

The dough is steamed, colored in white, red, pink, light green, etc. and cut into strips to make. The good flavor and texture of Japanese pepper is really unique. The tingling flavor of Japanese pepper that is sometimes felt is also like cinnamon. The moderate stimulation of Japanese pepper accentuates the sweetness of rice cakes.

The strong scent of Japanese pepper has long been popular as a ward off evil. It is said that it has been eaten for a long time as a year-end tradition so that the year's evil spirits and the New Year can be safely celebrated.

Nowadays, there are many places where you can buy it at Japanese sweets shops, so I want you to eat it so that you won't get sick or disaster, and hope we pass the year safely!

There is the last Tori-no-ichi of this year on November 26th, so please make plans and enjoy the festival!
