Keikyu Group Enters The Hostel Business! The First Property Will Open In Asakusa Area On 22 March 2019

Keikyu Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mr. Kazuyuki Harada) is expanding into the hostel business, due to the increase of foreign visitors to Japan and the increase in accommodation needs. The newly started hostel chain is named "plat hostel keikyu", a word play between "platform" and the japanese word "puratto" (how "plat" is read in Japanese), meaning "hassle-free", "easily". The first open will open in Higashi Komagata, Asakusa area, on 22 March 2019 under the name "plat hostel keikyu asakusa karin".

In the same 2018 the number of foreign visitors to Japan surpassed thirty million people for the first time, and the government has set a target to surpass forty millions in 2020. At the same time, problems such as a shortage of hotel rooms and excessive accommodation costs have come to surface.
Keikyu Corporation plans to build new properties or renovate existing buildings into hostels to meet diverse needs: not just backpackers, but also travellers who do not normally use hostels such as couples and families.

plat hostel keikyu asakusa karin is ideally located a 5 minute walk to Asakusa station and a 7 minute walk to Honjo-Azumabashi station (both on the Toei Asakusa Line), and within walking distance to popular attractions such as Sensoji Temple and the Sky Tree. It is also convenient for transportation, with Haneda Domestic Terminal just a 30 minute ride away on the Airport Limited Express.
Keikyu Group plans to expand its hostel chain, amid increased demand for hostel accommodation. Please find the details below.
plat hostel keikyu is operated by the Keikyu Group company R-Bank Co.Ltd (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Mr. Toshiaki Honda).
